What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. During the last nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Giving Tuesday follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and encourages us to move our thoughts from buying to giving!
How is McLane Church participating?
We want every child to have gifts to open on Christmas morning. Last year, with your help, we provided gifts for more than 130 children. This year the need is even greater.
We worked out a way for everyone in our McLane Church family to give back to our communities in a safe way that allows for social connection and kindness even while practicing social distancing.
Instead of our usual “Angel Tree,” we created a fund and are working with several agencies to purchase gifts for children. When you donate to the Giving Tuesday fund, your gift will be used to purchase toys, boots, coats, and more for families in need right here in our region.
You can help us from wherever you are to bridge the gap for those who are struggling to provide for their families during this holiday season by simply giving a gift in any amount.
How do I participate?
Go to mclanechurch.org/give any time between now and December 1 to see how to donate:
- Mail a check to our church office and write "Giving Tuesday" in the memo line
- Give online or via text – just choose the fund named Giving Tuesday
